Four volumes of works by Thomas hardy from the 'Wessex Edition' series, all with the very scarce original unclipped dust wrappers. Four volumes. Complete in 24 volumes.The Wessex edition. All 1920 reprints of the Wessex first editions. In the original publisher's cloth with the original vanishingly scarce unclipped dust wrappers. Illustrated to all with a frontispiece and a double page map of Wessex to the rear. This set features a collection of works by the popular English novelist and poet, Thomas Hardy. This set includes 'Two on a Tower', 'The Woodlanders', 'The Trumpet Major' and 'The Return of the Native'. This edition of the works gets its name from the semi-fictional region of 'Wessex' in which his novels are based in. Publisher's advertisements to the rears. In the publisher's original cloth with the original unclipped dust wrappers. Externally very smart with slight fading to the spines and to the tail of the front board to 'Native', marks to the front board to 'Trumpet Major' and minimal bumping to the tail of the spines and to the head of the rear board to 'Native. Light offsetting to the endpapers to all with light spotting to 'Tower', Woodlanders' and 'Native. Rear hinge starting to 'Woodlanders'. The wraps are generally smart with sunning to the spines, scattered spotting, chipping, small closed tears and loss to the tail of the front to 'Native' and to the tails of the spines to 'Tower' and 'Woodlander' and to the head of the spine to 'Woodlanders'. Offsetting as a result of the dye from the cloth to 'Major' and 'Native'. Offsetting to the verso of the wraps with further offsetting from the cloth dye to 'Major'. Internally firmly bound with the odd page unopened and offsetting to the edition half titles to all but 'Woodlander' which has offsetting to the front blank. Pages lightly age toned with the odd spot, heavier to the fronts. Very Good Indeed

Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
