Half gilt-ruled morocco and mottled cloth, spine ruled and lettered in gilt (5 raised bands), a. e. g.; 2 volumes, folio (267 x 369 mm); [6], 810, plus frontis., additional illustrated title-p., 26 steel-engraved plates; [6], plus frontis., additional illustrated title-p., 16 steel-engraved plates. Collates complete. Illustrations from pictures by C. W. Cope, W. P. Frith, C. R. Leslie, D. Maclise, E. M. Ward, C. Clint, H. S. Marks, W. Q. Orchardson, and others. Boards lightly rubbed, and a little scuffed along the edges; raised bands a little scuffed. A little faint foxing, but overall internally bright and clean. An important study of Shakespeare's life and works, based primarily on the first folio, and beautifully illustrated.
