London: Printed for and sold by John Murdoch; Geo. Robinson & Co. and Vernor & Hood, 1799. 2 vols., 8vo, pp. [ii], 360; [ii], 407, [1]. Contemporary half roan, marbled boards, spine divided by raised bands between double gilt rules, red morocco label, edges sprinkled green. Some foxing. Binding rubbed, particularly to spine, a little wear to extremities, one label lost and another chipped. Armourial bookplate of Cranstoun of Corehouse to front pastedowns, ink ownership inscription of George Cranstoun to title-pages. This copy of Samuel Foote’s (1720-1777) collected dramatic works belonged to Scottish advocate George Cranstoun (1770-1850), a peer and friend of Walter Scott’s. ESTC N25901.

About McNaughtan's Bookshop
Established in 1957, McNaughtan's Bookshop is the oldest surviving secondhand and antiquarian bookshop in Scotland. Located in the basement of a listed 1820s tenement building at the top of Edinburgh's Leith Walk, we are the only open shop in Edinburgh holding membership of the Antiquarian Booksellers Association.
