New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1912. The Viking Edition, limited to 256 copies. Hardcover. Complete in 16 volumes. Octavo. Three-quarter cream cloth over paper-covered boards with printed title-label. Top edge gilt. Deckled fore- and bottom edges. Ribbon marker. Some pages unopened as issued. Signed by publisher on limitation leaf in vol. I. Each volume with engraved frontispiece protected by captioned tissue-guard. Viking edition containing the major works by Norwegian playwright, theatre director and poet, Henrik Ibsen. Includes the classics Brand, Peer Gynt, Emperor and Galilean, Hedda Gabler, Rosmersholm, A Doll's House, and others. Illustrated with b/w reproductions of photographs (some in photogravure), photographic reproductions of drawings & paintings (all printed on glossy paper) and protected by captioned tissue-guards. One of 256 copies printed on high quality hand-made Ruisdael paper. Some staining and minor shelf wear on covers and spine. Ex-libris of Walter F. Haas on inside of front covers. Haas was an Los Angeles Attorney-at-Law in the 1880's. In 1891 he was admitted to the Supreme Court of California. The following year he was appointed to the United States District Court, United States Circuit, and United States Circuit Court of Appeals. He also belonged to the Palestine Lodge No. 351, the Union League Club, L.A. Chamber of Commerce, and other clubs and associations. Bindings in overall good+, interior in fine condition.
