A crisp, clean, very good set, bound in contemporary 3/4 polished maroon calf with marbled board, marbled endpapers, and gilt spines. All six volumes have scuffing and some discoloration to the spines, and there is some minor wear to the corners (including a few bumps), however the inner hinges are strong, and the interior contents are lovely. Contemporary gift inscription (dated 1887) to each volume, on the blank verso of the frontispiece. An old laid-in news clipping (now absent) has toned the first leaf of "The Raven" in volume I. An uncommon set, particularly in a handsome binding.

Very slight fading of spines, volume one has cracked hinge, but is solid, attractive bookplate in each volume. Interior of volumes are very clean, near fine condition. A handsome set.
