SCARCE FIRST EDITION THUS of New Illustrated Library Edition, 1876 and 1877, in the original hardback green cloth with bright gold gilt portrait of Dickens on the front boards; illustrations of engravings on steel throughout as well as frontispieces. Tight bindings. Clean, unmarked pages with only little to light tanning on pages. Spine with gilt lettering; crowns and heels with some scuffs and wear. Bumps and wear on corners. Introductions by Edwin P. Whipple. These volumes with copyright 1876 and 1887 by Hurd and Houghton. (26 volumes in full set.) Three in this collection being sold: The Personal History of David Copperfield I (446 pp); The Personal History of David Copperfield II (400 pp); The Old Curiosity Shop I (435 pp).
