About This Item

London: Methuen, 1980. Cloth. Fine/Near Fine. 10" by 7.5". E. H. Shepard. A smart later edition of this collection of work by English artist E. H. Shepard. Later edition, originally published 1979. Illustrated throughout with over three hundred drawings and painting, many of which are in colour. Published to mark the one hundredth anniversary of the birth of Ernest Howard Shepard, offers the most inclusive and characteristic of his work, with a balanced appreciation for the artist and the man. Ernest Howard Shepard was an English artist and book illustrator and is best remembered for illustrations of the anthropomorphic animal and soft toy characters in The Wind in the Willows and Winnie-the-Pooh. Edited by Rawle Knox, a British writer and editor whose father E. V. Knox edited Punch for nineteen years. In the original brown cloth binding with gilt. Externally, excellent. Original price-clipped dust wrapper is very smart with light shelf wear to the extremities and sunning to the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean throughout. Fine
