About This Item
Edinburgh: William Blackwood and Sons, 1897. First edition. Cloth. Very Good. 8" by 6". Not Stated. An uncommon first edition copy of the first book of well-known poet and essayist Edward Thomas. The uncommon first edition of this work in the publisher's original pictorial cloth binding. This debut collection, published when the author was 19 years of age, contains nature writing by the now beloved poet and essayist Edward Thomas (1878-1917) . This is a variant of the second state of the binding: green cloth with the decorative panel to the front board and dark olive green end papers. There seems to be no clear priority between the two binding states. 2 pages of publisher's advertisements to the rear. In the publisher's original pictorial cloth binding. Externally smart, with bumping to the extremities and light shelf wear to the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Very Good
