New York: George Sully 337 pp, 8 7/8" H, blue cloth with gilt lettering/banding on spine, blindstamped decoration on front board. No date, but previous owner has written "1926" on front free endpaper in fountain pen. 28 b&w plates (including frontispiece), several with two photographs per plate - all present. Chapter headings: The Dawn of British North American Shipping; The Boom Days of the 'Fifties; The 'Sixties in Quebec and New Brunswick Shipping; The 'Sixties in Nova Scotia - A Period of Expansion; The Bluenose Fashion; The Nova Scotiamen of the Palmy 'Seventies; The 'Seventies in New Brunswick Shipping; The 'Seventies in Quebec, Prince Edward Island and the Lakes; The 'Eighties in Nova Scotia Shipping; The 'Eighties in New Brunswick, Quebec and Prince Edward Island; The Last of the Bluenose Ships; Appendix. A previous owner's bookplate and a date in ink on the front free endpaper, scattered light foxing marks thouhout the pages - heavier on the preliminary pages, light browning on the endpapers, a very slight separation between one or two page gatherings but pages are firmly held in the binding, small corner bump on the front board, heaviy wear and wrinkling at the top/bottom of the spine - light to moderate edge wear elsewhere, darkening to the top of the text block, light browning to the fore-edge and bottom of the text block - with scattered foxing marks and very small stains on the fore-edge, small scuff marks on the spine... Not Signed. Hard Cover. Good-/No Jacket.
