On International Women's Day in 1917 (March 8 in the Western calendar), women textile workers went out on strike in Petrograd and sent an appeal to other workers to support them. Their demands were modest - for bread, against the autocracy and against the war - but this strike was the beginning of the revolution". Time Period 1917. Locale: Russia.
