Two volume set in three quarter burgundy leather over dark red cloth, spines lettered and decorated in gilt, top edges gilt, marbled endpapers, books about 11 inches tall. Describes women of various locations and cultures throughout the world, well illustrated throughout in both color and black and white. Extremities rubbed, very light non-structural surface cracking to front joints, hinges good, text blocks sound, light foxing to outer edges of text blocks, volume I has small library stamp inside front cover and on preliminary blank, unused circulation slip on rear free endpaper, no other library markings, volume II has small library stamp on preliminary blank, both have previous owner name stamp on preliminary blank, pages very clean, no other markings.. First Edition. Hard Cover. Good. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall.
