New York: C. M. Plumb & Co, 1865. Hardcover. Complete set of two volumes, viii, 318p. + 466p. + [2p. of advertisements], original dark brown cloth boards, second edition; spine lettering is mostly faded, boards are slightly discolored from mild soil, bottom-edge of the boards and spine ends are somewhat shelfworn with some minor exposure, hint of soil on both volumes' fore-edges, top-edges of text block are dust-soiled, volume one has a minor spot of soil on pages 144-145, volume two top board corners are slightly bumped, otherwise in very good condition. Political treatise of the novelist and abolitionist stating women are more superior to men, but that political rights for women would result in losing the moral influence they have over society.
