Rider Haggard, in the vanishingly scarce, uncommonly bright nineteenth century dust wrapper. The first separate edition, with the advertisements to the rear for 'Pelmanism'. First published in the same year in the 'Arrowsmith Christmas Annual' and as the 'Arrowsmith Bristol Library' edition. In the publisher's original blue cloth with the original, vanishingly scarce unclipped dust wrapper. A particularly bright example of a nineteenth century dust wrapper.This work was written by the popular English adventure novel write, H. Rider Haggard. Haggard is considered to be the pioneer of the 'lost world' genre. This novel follows the journey of Reverend Thomas Owen as he carries out missionary work in South central Africa amongst the Amasuka trive.Publisher's advertisements to the rear. In the publisher's original cloth with the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally excellent with fading to the spine, a very slight lean and minor shelf wear. Front hinge tender with the odd spot to the front endpapers. The wrap is excellent with sunning to the spine, handling marks and the odd chip and minor creasing to the extremities and spine. A particularly bright dust wrapper for its age. Internally firmly bound with age toned and generally clean pages. Very Good Indeed
