First printing, quarto size, 501 pp. The philosophy of Ludwig Wittgenstein (1889-1951) has been vastly influential to artists and thinkers alike; despite having only one book published during his lifetime, Wittgenstein was a prolific writer and many of his manuscripts were published posthumously.

In this book the author "gives a systematic account of Wittgenstein's later philosophy of mathematics and establishes its links with his later philosophy of language." (n.b., from dust jacket flap)

___DESCRIPTION: Bound in full black cloth over boards, gilt lettering stamped onto spine; quarto size (10" by 6 3/16"), pagination: [i-vii] viii-xix [1, blank] [1-3] 4-481. Dust jacket with black lettering on green background, summary of book on front flap, short author bio on front flap, author photo on back flap, unclipped and unpriced.

___CONDITION: Volume is near fine overall, with clean boards, straight corners without rubbing, a strong, square text block with solid hinges, the interior is clean and bright, and entirely free of prior owner markings; a very slight indentation on two leaves (pp. 367-370) at the fore-edge margin, else fine. Dust jacket near fine, clean and without tears, light overall edge wear and two minor scrapes on back panel.
