About This Item
London: Longmans, Green, and Co., 1904. Cloth. Very Good. 8.5" by 6". Not Stated. An early edition of this extensive and densely illustrated travel journal from the early twentieth century. An early edition of this work in the publisher's original cloth binding. Stamp of Bristol Mercury Library to page 1. The Bristol Mercury was a British newspaper, first issued weekly then daily, from 1790 to 1909. Sir Henry Rider Haggard (1856-1925) was an English author who specialised in adventure fiction set in exotic locations, primarily Africa. He was a pioneer of the "Lost World" literary genre. In this travel work, first published in 1901, Haggard documents his travels in Palestine, Italy and Cyprus in the year 1900. Illustrated throughout. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally smart, with a little bumping to the corners, and shelf wear and fading to the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean except for offsetting to the first couple of pages. Very Good
