About This Item

Cleveland and New York: The World Publishing Company, 1944. Hardcover. Very good/Good. First edition thus, a photoplay edition issued in conjunction with the 20th Century-Fox film adaptation of the play. Inscribed by actors Don Taylor and Edmond O'Brien to studio publicist Art Ronnie on the front flyleaf, and additionally signed on the front endpaper by six other actors who appeared in the film: Lee J. Cobb, Barry Nelson, Whit Bissell, Red Buttons, Alfred Ryder, and Alan Baxter. The story of a group of recruits struggling to make it through pilot training, this play was produced by the U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II as a morale booster and as a fundraiser for the Army Emergency Relief Fund. Octavo. Original red cloth binding, with blue stamping. Minor bump to the bottom corner of the front board. Some general shelfwear to the dust jacket, which is a bit chipped at the corners and tips, with some brown paper reinforcement to the verso; else very good.
