About This Item
First edition. Green cloth boards with gilt crossed tennis rackets on cover, title and author on spine. A tiny dent on the spine. Spot rubbed on upper right corner of inside FEP. A wrinkle in the back cover paste down, and a bump on facing end paper; someone has at one time paper clipped a few of the back pages of photographs which has left an impression on several pages below top edges. Dust jacket is Very Good with a small chip at top of spine and edge, and tiny chip at bottom spine. Top corners show slight wear. Original price of 14.95 intact, and the color of jacket is bright. Author text based on the 1970 event, and photographs by Alfred Eisenstaedt from 1971- both caputure a time of the real era of "absolutely fabulous" British history; the images include rich Kodachrome color hues, and black & white grainy slices of life at Centre Court and around the fabled club. A nostalgic tribute to the tournament and an era unlikely to be ever seen again. Signed/inscribed by author on half title page.
