This pictorial biography, richly decorated in text with numerous engravings from original drawings by W. Harvey, was originally published in parts between 1838 and 1841. The present copy complete with two books bound in one. Written by Charles Knight, English publisher and author known for his contributions to The Penny Magazine, and The English Cyclopeedia. in a half straight up grain morocco binding over cloth covered boards, gilt to top edge. Externally very smart with minor shelf wear, minor rubbing along the joints, spine, and extremities, few light damp marking to rear board. Internally, firmly bound. Light spotting to first and last few leaves, otherwise pages bright and clean throughout. With numerous lovely illustrations in text. Very Good
