About This Item

Paris: Centre Georges Pompidou / Herscher, 1983. First Edition. First Edition. INSCRIBED by Klein to Ira Lowe on the half-title page: "to Ira, / a little catalog not made, heureusement in USA (see page 7) / All my best / Bill."

Ira Lowe was a Washington, DC based lawyer who specialized in the arts and, over the course of a lengthy career, represented some of the most significant artists and writers of the twentieth century, famously (and successfully) arguing in front of the Supreme Court for the concept of "blockage discount" in valuing artists estates. The reference in the inscription is to a image of a summons in New York State Klein received after being sued for defamation of character by Aperture and a second publisher for a million dollars each after he publicly criticized one of their books. The case was still pending at the time the surrounding interview in this book took place.

Near Fine without dust jacket as issued. Small bruise to the outer edge of the front board, light rubbing to the extremities. Text in French.
