Johan Swinnen studied photography, film and video at the Hogeschool Sint-Lukas Brussels, cultural sciences at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel and art history at the Universidad de La Laguna, where he obtained his doctorate cum laude in art sciences (1998). He was merger coordinator of the Hogeschool Antwerpen, founding chairman of the Higher Institute of Fine Arts (HISK) and instigator of the Master in Conservation and Restoration at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp. He is currently senior lecturer in contemporary art history at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel and professor at the Hogeschool Antwerpen, as well as a regular guest lecturer at the Université de la Sorbonne Nouvelle ? Paris III. He is the author of several monographs and essays. He also remains active as a photographer and is working on a short film about erotic pantheism. He works as an art critic for VRT-Radio, European Photography, art and for the digital magazines www.edit-revue.com and www.photoq.nl. He is chairman of the Henri Storck Chair and of the Flemish Film Culture Agency, manager of the Henri Storck Fund and of the Raoul Servais Fund and member of the Flanders Culture Council

Terms and conditions of sale. Books are offered if unsold. The order of incoming orders will be respected strictly. Orders can be placed via e-mail (info@erik-tonen-books.be), or in writing, preferably not by telephone. The books that are offered online are not available at our bookshop at 48 Kloosterstraat. You will receive an e-mail confirming the availability of the book(s) and providing details with regard to shipment costs (we use Belgian and Dutch postal companies for the most cost-effective shipments. The indicated shipment costs have been calculated according to the rates for shipments of up to 2 kilo. We will choose the most cost-effective shipment option, depending on the weight: either letter post or parcel post. Payment must be made before delivery; ordered books will be reserved during 12 days in expectation of payment or confirmation of shipment. Payment can be made by transferring money to our Belgian bank; banktransfer IBAN BE48 4098 5839 0127 and the BIC (Bank Identifier Code)(swift) / KREDBEBB , Payment via Paypal account erik.tonen@pandora.be is also possible. Prices are net prices and free of VAT (margin arrangement) and expressed in euros. Shipment and payments costs are charged to the customer. Each shipment contains a delivery slip. Ordered books will remain our property until payment has been received. Our books are shipped in decently packaged form; The state of the books is not specified if the works are in good condtion (smaller, minor defects such as an ex libris stamp, a name on the first page, minimal wear and tear etc. are not specified, unless specifically requested). If the ordered works do not match the specified description, they may be reshipped within seven days after receipt, after prior notice.
