Beacon Press, Boston, 1956. First Edition. Softcover. Very Good Condition. foreword by author, acknowledgements and of shows reviewed and non-reviewed. Plain text paperback binding with red and black coloured titles to the front panel and back strip. The author of this book was the drama critic of The New Republic newspaper; and, in this work he reviews the majority of theatre shows that were produced in New York in 1955 and 1956. He discusses modern theatre, and, of what that means, in his opinion. Some of the shows reviewed were On the Waterfront, Six Characters in Search of an Author, The Matchmaker and Miss Julie. Creasing of the book corners and to the lower right-hand corner of the back strip. Rubbing of the book edges and panels some insect trails to be seen on the panels. Sunning and handling marks to the panels with very noticeable sunning to the back strip. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. [6], VII - X, [2], 3 - 373, [5] pages,.
