New York: James Miller, 522 Broadway, 1867. Cloth. Very good. [PESOA, engraver]. First edition thus. 12mo (7 ¾" x 5 3/8"); 380 + [2]pp publisher's ads; blue cloth over board, blind stamped fillets with corner ornaments enclosing a circle with the title; gilt stamped lettering and ornamentation on spine; pale yellow eps, gift inscription on front pastedown; engraved fp with tissue guard + 14 plates; very good. OCLC locates 13 copies. One of the many fairy tales by the Danish author, Hans Christian Andersen (1805-1875) written around 1840. Illustrations are signed "Pesoa, SC," possibly Isaac Pesoa illustrator and engraver.
