Negligible shelf-wear,bumping to edges and corners – miniscule rubbing and colour loss to corners' tips and tips of spine/ backstrip as well, but no nicks, tears or splits to the boards present, boards virtually scoring/indent-free; blue+white repetitive bone illustrated endpapers - the front hinge with the start of an approx 1" split/crack at the base.Top+fore-edges bright, crisp clean without blemish/foxing/spotting ; contents bright, tight, clean, solid and sound – no dog-ear reading creases to any pages' corner tips – appears unread, apart from my own collation.UK,slim, square Qrto HB,no dw/dj,as issued, illustrated 1st edn,32pp [unpaginated and excluding endpapers] includes colour illustrated title page,13 double-page and 6 single page colour illustrations and glitter decoration by Lydia Monks, and Donaldson's trademark rhyming couplets as text. Visually the exterior appearance is more than acceptable and particularly internally,is in an exceptional condition/ state of preservation and presentation, for a book of its 5+ year-old age and nature, i.e. a child's book. It is only the miniscule faults described that prevents a higher grading. Despite those described,it is still an acceptable example for its cleanliness, brightness and lack of other major detracting faults. Those two bad men, Lanky Len and Hefty Hugh, are back! They may be in the city instead of the farm, but they haven't changed their thieving ways. In fact, they've got even more ambitious. They're planning to steal a monkey from the zoo and use it to pinch the Queen's crown. It's a pity for them that a certain crime-busting ladybird is holidaying in the very same city . . . and she's got a good idea that will ensure the dastardly pair won't get away with it! With a whole host of noisy new zoo-animal characters to meet and even a cameo from the Queen. Lydia Monks is a bestselling illustrator and author of children's books, based in Sheffield, who has collaborated with many authors on both picture book and fiction titles. She is probably most well known for her collaborations with author Julia Donaldson, including Sharing a Shell, The Singing Mermaid and the What the Ladybird Heard series which has sold over 4 million copies and been translated into 25 languages worldwide.Julia Donaldson and Lydia Monks have teamed up for their 12th picture book, the fifth in the What the Ladybird Heard series, which is the first to feature a festive theme. What the Ladybird Heard at Christmas was published in October 2022.
