About This Item
London: Smith, Elder & Co., 1913. xvi, 520 pages. 8vo. The first printing of what is considered to be the best account of the uprising by Catholics in southwestern England that was precipitated by enforcement of religious changes of the Protestant Reformation, including publication of the Book of Common Prayer in 1549. The rebellion was put down within 2 months, and its leaders were executed. The book is in very good condition: clean and tight, with light toning of pages, a few tiny smudges on the covers, and a tiny (1/16") tear on the bottom edge of a few leaves. An attractive copy.. First Edition. Hardcover. Collectible-Very Good/No Dust Jacket, as Issued. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Book.
