New York: The Republic Press, 1898 In Very Good Condition. SCARCE. INSCRIBED AND SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR. LIMITED - 150 COPIES PRIVATELY PRINTED OF WHICH THIS IS NO. 3. Dedicated to "My darling boy Ted with the undying love of his fond Mother (Janet Drake). May 7th, 1898". ALSO - on a blank page prior to the Allegory, is the following hand written note - "The subject if this Allegory was suggested by the wonderful advancement of women in the past few years - their severed chains of bondage placing them on a mental footing with men. These tremendous strides have been attained only by the Herculean efforts of women themselves - inspired by the Divine Hand - and immense possibilities whoes realities they have succeeded so marvelously in mastering. They have found "the light" - and may its radiance be the incentive got still greater and another achievement in the future for them - Janet Drake - May 24th 1924". Covers show light corner wear, light wear to top/heel of backstrip, hinges cracked. Binding tight. 8 leaves, 90pp, on laid paper, bound in blue cloth with gilt borders, top edges gilt.
