About This Item
NP: Self-published, 1949. Original document. Softcover. g to g+. Folio. 98 pp. Spiral bound brown stiff wraps with mimeographed book block. The author Ida Ibekken, a student of the Hebrew language, approaches the Hebrew language from a rare perspective. She tries to show connections between Nordic languages and Hebrew with regard to meaning and phonetics. Starting off with names of deities and finding equivalents in Hebrew words, such as: Hebrew: "Adon" - meaning lord, master, which is found in "Wodin", meaning "the mighty", she finds equivalents in nearly all areas of language. e.g. Hebrew: pered - meaning mule, which equals the Low-German: perd and the Dutch: pard. Text in English and Hebrew in transliteration and handwritten Hebrew characters. Binding with some wear and fraying along edges. Age-toning and some foxing throughout block. Binding and interior in overall good to good+ condition.
