About This Item

Sm. 8vo., Second Edition, Sixth Impression, with a coloured frontispiece, 23 coloured plates, 151 plates in monochrome, 58 illustrations in the text and pictorial keys; original series binding of green leather-effect cloth, upper board elaborately blocked with gilt hazel spray and lettered in gilt and black, gilt back, radial corners, sprinkled edges, photographic endpapers, a near fine copy. The second title in Warne's famous series, Step's classic survey was the first to appear (in 1904) in the now familiar 'dumpy' W&W format.
