Spine Gilt emboss and lettering; ribbed spine, dark brown leather; frontispiece with tissue - Thus saith the Lord, Behold, I set before you the Way of Life" engraving; IX chapters; Hodge was Professor in the Theological Seminary, Princeton, N.J.; Spine straight, binding tight, pages clean and bright. Blind stamping and beautiful tooling. Dentelle. Not x-library. Rub to edge of spine, corners, and edges. Unmarked. Engraving on Title Page of angel holding a Bible. Written for the American Sunday-School Union, and revised by the Committee of Publication.
Paper cracked along gutter at front end page; Spine edges worn, corners worn, edge wear & rubs, no writings, spine straight, binding tight! Personal inscription on end page faded. Beautiful frontispiece w/tissue engraved by W.G. Armstrong & another one on half-title page. Contents include: Chapter 1 - the Scriptures are the Word of God; Chapter II - Sin; Chapter III - Causes of Indifference to the Charge of Sin...and more....totaling IX chapters.
