London, Hodder and Stoughton, n.d. ca1921. Hardback, Size 11 x 8.5 inches. In blue cloth covers with gilt lettering and pictorial designs to spine and front. Plain endpapers. In very good condition. Some handling marks to cover; a couple of soiling marks and light scratch to rear boards, spine faded and slightly tanned. Rubbing to corners and some small nicks to ends of spine. Endpapers darkened, mild foxing spots to prelims and halftitle page. A couple of small spots to title page else frontis and title clean and bright. some occasional small spots to pages, with some darker foxing to last few pages 230-end. Colour plates and guards all clean and bright. Else a very good clean and tight copy. 240pp. Illustrated with 12 colour plates tipped-in and mounted plates, all with titled tissue guards. Numerous text illustrations in green tint. Charles Kingsley’s Water Babies, beautifully illustrated by Jessie Willcox Smith in a 1930 edition produced for Boots.
