About This Item
London, Herbert & Daniel 1913.. 8vo. 340,[4]pp. Original cloth, slight wear to extremities and a few minor marks. Top edge gilt. Endpapers browned and a few spots to preliminary pages. A very good copy.. A large part unopened which is perhaps unsurprising as this is a thorough condemnation of the prison system and demands a radical reform: "Imprisonment as a penalty has failed .. it has neither reformed nor deterred the criminal."
