London; William Heinemann, 1920., 1920. Hard Cover. New Impression (just 3 months after the First Edition). 16mo, pp. 95, [1]. Publishers' scarlet cloth with printed paper title labels to spine and upper board in unclipped orange dust-jacket. Spine lightly sunned and rubbed at tips; cloth and labels clean and bright. Endpapers a little toned, with "To love is to understand 28.8.20" boldly inscribed in year of publication to ffep. Minor foxing to uncut foredge otherwise contents clean. Jacket sunned, particularly to spine, with a few small nicks & creases, and minor loss at spine tips and corners. A Very Good copy in like jacket. Ann edition of 1,000 copies only containing 64 of Sassoon's Great War poems, 12 of which published here for the first time and the others selected from two previous volumes. Scarce in this condition, particularly so in the rare dust-jacket. Sassoon's realistic and compassionate poems about the experience of war established his reputation as one of the foremost poets of his generation. Keynes: A20.
