First U.S. ed. with gauffered edges; 372 p., clean and unmarked--not ex-lib., no former owner's name; not a reprint; quality paper strong and only mildly age-toned; map end papers and many period photos of great interest; gutters cracked but text block firm and volume is square; in absence of d.j. blue boards with gilt lettering are bumped and scuffed; most serious defect is damp-staining of margins of first 8 pages so this is not for collectors so much as for scholars interested in an important primary historical source.
