The story describes the environs and inhabitants of this forest, primarily its trees, in a romantic and appealing fashion. Oaks, birches, elms, chestnuts, lime, conifers, plane trees, alders and "graveyard trees" notably the Cypress, and the mighty sequoia of California are featured in the tale. An enchanting and educational piece.
