Edinburgh: William Blackwood and Sons, 1864. 1st ed. Hardcover. Good. folding map (in pocket), xviii, 452, (2)p. plus (40)p. undated publisher's advertisements. Original green cloth. M'ganda warrior in gilt on front cover. 23cm. Cloth split or fraying at several places along joints. Ex lib. (bookplate -- of the Scottish Rite Cathedral in Los Angeles -- on endpaper and a blackened area on backstrip where a library call number is inked). Also present is a recent owner's bookplate on endpaper. Contents sound and clean with just a little age-toning and foxing. Grant's scarce account of his travels with Speke to confirm the source of the Nile.
