Map endpapers, frontispiece, illustrations, notes. The dust jacket is chipped and price-clipped, a small hole worn in the dust jacket at the spine, tiny rust marks on the inside title and dedication pages. "The impression was one of space; whispering space. The curved blue sky met the undulating emerald on all sides among the rounded hills; the emerald becoming darker and softer, the blue becoming pastel as they merged" - from the text.
