New York: Hastings House Publishers. Very Good in Good dust jacket. 1961. First Edition. Hardcover. First edition with "1961" on copyright page. Brown cloth boards with black lettering on spine. Some rubbing and bumping to edges; large dampstain on back board and spine, does not impact interior. Tan illustrated dust jacket with black lettering on cover and spine. Jacket is wrapped in mylar and price clipped. Moderate chipping and wear to edges; fading to spine and back panel; mild soiling; jacket is affected by same dampstain as boards. There is a piece of tape reinforcing jacket at tail of spine. Front hinge has small crack, but binding is still tight. Interior is clean. Includes illustrations by the author throughout. This book tells the story of how the American frontier expanded westward with an emphasis on the vehicles and animals that made it possible. ; B&W Illustrations; Small 4to 9" - 11" tall; 184 pp .
