The Wader Study Group organized a workshop held in 1989 whose objectives were to review the situation of wetlands in Europe, to review population sizes and trends of waders breeding on wetlands, to give examples of research and applied research on grasslands waders and habitat management and to draw conclusions and make recommendations for all involved in the conservation of wet grasslands and their biota.
