François Jean de Chastellux was an 18th-century French military officer who served under George Washington during the American Revolution. Chastellux was an important figure in the French forces particularly at the Siege of Yorktown. The events of his experiences in the Revolutionary War were published in his book 'Voyages'. While a dozen or so copies of this book were published years prior, the first authorized edition was published in 1786 by Prault.
