Illustrated endpapers, showing natives of a South Sea Island, a contemporary illustration from Cook's time. Profusely illustrated with 38 colour illustrations and over 140 in black-and-white -- both contemporary illustrations and photography. Navy blue coloured boards with a gilt coloured illustration, of a compass, to the lower right-hand corner of the front board. Gilt coloured titles to the backstrip. Minor rubbing and wear to the book edges and Browning of the text block edges. Illustrated dustwrapper, with advertising wraparound, with blue and white coloured titles to the front panel and white coloured titles to the backstrip. A little rubbing to the dustwrapper edges and panels. Some rubbing on the advertising banner edges. The story of Captain James Cook's three voyages to the South Pacific, between 1768 and 1780.
