Stanford: Stanford University Press, 1997. Hb, xvi + 227pp, b/w illustrations and maps. VG with clean contents in VG dj. Story of the Frolic, a clipper used by 19th century Bostonion owners to ply the opium trade between India and China. It eventually wrecked on the Mendocino coast, carrying Chinese goods for would-be buyers during the California Gold rush. In the 1980s, the author and his team of archaeology students discovered Chinese porcelain fragments at the site of a Pomo Indian village in northern California, and hence started the intriguing research as to how they got there.. Hard Cover. Very Good/Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
