Hearst's International Library Co., 1916. Hardcover. Good/No Jacket. Good ; No jacket. 1916 Hearst's International Library Co. First Edition. First printing. Date on title page matches copyright on verso. No additional printings listed. NOT ex-library. Hardcover has red cloth-covered boards with brown spine lettering. Front cover has gold lettering and black & gray illustration of the Deutschland at sea. Frontispiece with tissue guard; guard is partially detached. Black and white plates. Front hinge partially cracked, but still strong. Corners and spine ends bumped and rubbed, with minor fraying at tips. Spine moderately faded; lettering may have once been gold. Covers have light surface and edge wear. Name in ink on front free endpaper. Pages lightly and uniformly tanned but still supple. Plates and pages on either side of them have light foxing. One page has two small tears in the fore edge as well as two small pieces missing from the fore edge margin. Two other pages and a plate have a small tear at the bottom edge, in the margin. Pages clean and unmarked. 247 pages. No dust jacket. Carefully packed, shipped in a box.
