Small 4to, 250 x 182 mm, 10 x 7¼ inches, red cloth spine with gilt lettering and tern vignette, shiny boards with coloured illustration and gilt lettering on red panel to upper cover, lower cover cream with small coloured illustration and brief comments from pre publication readers, illustrated yellow endpapers (Plymouth), 231 pages. Profusely illustrated in black and white by Nick Pouillis. "An epic tale written entirely in verse. With a strong sense of adventure, this is a classic tale of right and wrong, good and bad. Set over 20 centuries, it sweeps though Scandinavia, Spain and the South West of England." (lower cover blurb). No inscriptions, faint pale brown spotting to top edges, otherwise a Fine unread crisp clean copy (issued without dustwrapper). Exciting debut by Hugh Montgomery - a former commercial diver and archaeologist. His work on the salvage of the Mary Rose, King Henry VIII's flagship which sank in 1545 was an inspiration.; Montgomery is also world record holder for playing the piano underwater and a working surgical consultant who is credited with the discovery of the 'fitness' gene.
