London: David Stott, 1887. A collection of twenty pieces that was published as a fund-raising effort. This is a Very Good (Plus) copy of the First Edition. Not a common book. Turquoise cloth binding with titling in gilt on the spine and front cover; six of the authors are listed; beveled edges. Clean text; 203 pages, all nicely bright. There is a frontis engraving of the hospital in question. Edited by H.B. Donkin. Twenty authors, including the Earl of Lytton and the Scottish poet Andrew Lang.listed alphabetically. Robert Louis Stevenson has contributed a new poem, "Ad Matrem," which Quercus judges to be "not too bad." Previous-owner bookplate on the front paste-down. Spine darkened a bit; light wear to the margins; there is a flood-mark on the spine. . First Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good (Plus)/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
