New York: Lewis Publishing Company, 1903. Leather-bound. Near Fine. Quarto. Morocco (goatskin) in dark maroon (10 1/4 in. x 8 1/2 in.) Double ruled in blind, with decorative embossed corner devices to both front and back. Beveled boards. Four raised bands (five compartments). Gilt lettering ("King County Washington" to second compartment down, and "Illustrated" to fourth). All edges gilt. Lovely floriated patterned endpapers (gold daisies to dark blue background). Handsome, bright, solidly bound, lovely on the shelf. Illustrated with photographs.
This copy belonged to noteworthy Puyallup tribe member Henry Sicade's, a descendant of Chief Leschi copy with his signature and year to front free endpaper. Sicade (1866-1938) served on the Puyallup Tribal Council and the Fife City Council, and additionally, holding important positions with the tribal police and judicial systems, as well as the City of Tacoma. Henry Sicade's signature and year. (Note: The date after the handwritten signature is 1902, and the book's publication date is listed as 1903, which suggests that Sicade had an advance copy of this book.).
