Gio. Battista Cestari, 1673. Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. 'Vita di Esopo Frigio, prudente, & faceto fauolatore.', Venice, 1673. Text translated into Italian by Giulio Landi. 12mo. bound in period paper covered boards; spine mainly missing with raised bands showing and remains of calf at head and foot, remnant of adhesive paper label. Contemporary plain endpapers. 7.5cm x 13.5cm. Text collates complete: 414, [14]pp, with 139 woodcuts within text. The 'Favole di Esopo.', has a separately dated title, but register and pagination are continuous. Both title pages printed within double ruled border with colophon. Binding is firm, rubbed and scuffed, chipped to extremities and corners. Text block is firm, contents generally in good crisp condition; toned with some minor browning, thumbed to edges and corners a bit dog-eared or rounded; B3 somewhat creased at time of printing or binding; scattered worming top inside corner of final three leaves of table at rear and the rear board. Some old ink ownership markings to upper ffep and base of the final page; a few other minor marks otherwise generally a good or very good copy overall in original state. We can find no institutional copies on COPAC.
