Colour frontispiece with tissue-guard plus three colour plates. Original decorative red gilt-stamped and blindstamped cloth with some soiling/ minor damp staining to rear. Aeg. "Hamsterley Hall Library" printed bookplate to front pastedown plus beautifully handwritten gift inscription dated 1855 to Anthony Surtees, only son of the author R S Surtees, from his "Affectionate Mamma" Elizabeth Surtees. Of interest to collectors of Surtees memorabilia as well as Couper and Absolon enthusiasts.
