About This Item

London: Macmillan, 1982. First Edition. Hard Cover. Dust Jacket. Signed by Author. First UK Edition. INSCRIBED BY THE AUTHOR TO FAMILY MEMBERS. The usual page tanning due to the poor quality of paper used otherwise a fine copy in like D/W (with just a hint of wear at the head of the spine but with the red portion of the spine totally un-faded). Inscribed by the Author on the title page: "To Betty and family,/ with love from/ Mary./ 'Ellis Peters'/ 1982". Jessie and Joe,/ with love/ from/ Mary,/ 'Ellis Peters'". Betty Lamb (nee Edward) was Ellis Peters' first cousin. The name on the FFEP is Joan Wells" (nee Lamb), the daughter of Walter and Betty Lamb and, therefore Ellis Peters' first cousin (once removed). Ellis Peters' real name was Edith Mary Pargeter. Family members called her "Edith Mary" or "Mary" as her mother was also called Edith. A superb Association Copy.
