About This Item
[Melbourne]: R. McGeehan, 96 Albert St., Windsor, 1899. Very Good. [Melbourne], R. McGeehan, 96 Albert St., Windsor, [circa 1899]. A high-gloss gelatin silver photograph (100 × 145 mm), on the original blind-decorated mount with the ink stamp of the photographer on the verso. Photograph slightly marked, with some uneven discolouration; mount a little marked; in very good condition. The second figure from the right in the front row is wearing a slouch hat with a distinctive hatband, and the brim turned up on the right side. We have discovered the same man in one of Rose's Stereoscopic Views, #2242, 'The Bushmen's Contingent at Camp, Langwarrin', illustrated in 'George Rose, Australia's Master Stereographer' by Ron Blum (2014, third edition, page 32).
