Portrait of American playwright, author, and screenwriter Lillian Hellman (1905-1984) by Richard Avedon, 1973. Vintage gelatin silver print on semi-gloss single weight paper, 10" x 8". Printed on back cover of first edition of Pentimento (1973) written by Hellman. Artist's credit stamped on verso. Numbered in pen on verso. Good condition. Minor wear to edges, small scouring spot on neck of sitter. Light indentations above hair visible only under specular light as seen in image 4.
