N Y: Brentano's. Very Good with no dust jacket. 1942. First Edition. Paperback. Portrait frontis; 316 pages; A biography of celebrated French stage and film actress Sarah Bernhardt (c. 22/23 October 1844 26 March 1923). A lengthy handwritten inscription appears on the first blank preliminary page, addressed to a Madame Francis Carter, and signed "En respecteux hommage / L. Verneuil / Decembre 1942." This volume is bound in the publisher's printed wrappers. The book shows light shelfwear, with small red stains to the lower inside quadrant of the front cover and to the lower inside quadrant of the rear cover. The binding is sound. The pages are clean and without markings. This work is illustrated with a photographic frontispiece featuring the author with Ms. Bernhardt. A number of newspaper clippings relating to the noted French actress are laid in. ; Signed by Author .
